DESCRIPTION:\n\t\n\t\t \n\t\n\n\t\n\t\tThe Swords Into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery is Southeast Michigan's unique location for peace and justice related art exhibits as well as a location for a number of peace-related events.\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\thttp://www.swordsintoplowsharesdetroit.org/\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\tSwords into Plowshares Peace Center and Gallery is a 501(c)3 organization\, founded in 1985 by Rev. James & Emily (Jo) Bristah\, and is a project of Central United Methodist Church\, Detroit.\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\tRev. Bristah had the desire and will to inspire artists to create and exhibit works that promote justice and peace through visual and performing arts.\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\tWe hope to continue to:\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t- serve as a forum for artists to present works which comment on social conditions\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t- foster visions of the world transformed to one where peace and justice prevail\, and\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t- encourage people to use their creativity to express their desire for such a wold and to take action to make those visions reality.\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\tWe have a Gift Shop designed to sustain our peace and justice mission; a Library full of books and videos for public use; we have an outdoor "Little Library"; we welcome various peace and justice organizations to meet in our facility; our spacious gallery is available for rental celebrations and special events; in addition to our various exhibits we have film showings\, concerts\, poetry readings and forum events that support our peace mission.\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t \n\t\n\n\t\n\t\t \n\t\n\n
