Declaring a Worldwide Year of the Laity to Empower the Grassroots of the Church (Session 1)

October 21, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Rene Reid will share how Catholic Church Reform Int’l is going worldwide with this year-long celebration initiated by the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops. CCRI is working with two of their Commissions:

1. The Commission on the Laity to promote their conference initiated by the Base Christian Communities (CEBs) to be held in Londrina in January 2018.

2. The Brazilian Special Commission on the Year of the Laity to promote this celebration throughout the global Church. During this year, November 2017 to November 2018, CCRI is supporting specific lay-led actions during this year including four Synods called by the People, the selection of diocesan bishops, ordaining lay leaders where there is a priest shortage to minister to their small faith groups, and encouraging the formation and growth of more small communities (SCCs, IECs, and CEBs) throughout the world.

Attendees of this session will be invited to join in active participation in the Year of the Laity.

Rene Reid is an author and co-founder of Catholic Church Reform Int'l along with now deceased Robert Blair Kaiser. Rene has moved from the sublime of religious life as a Daughter of Charity in the ‘60s to the absurd of public life as a County Commissioner in the ‘90s in her home town of Reno, Nevada.
